Software Update Overview

MyOwnProxy manages its application software on Gateways and Nodes. Responsibility for operating-system maintenance differs between Gateway hosts and Nodes.

Responsibility summary

Area Responsible party
MyOwnProxy application software on a Gateway MyOwnProxy
Gateway operating-system lifecycle and upgrades Customer
Gateway OS security updates Customer
MyOwnProxy software on a Node MyOwnProxy
Supported Node OS security patches MyOwnProxy administrators
Supported Node maintenance reboots MyOwnProxy administrators

Do not manually replace or modify MyOwnProxy application software on a Gateway or Node. Contact MyOwnProxy Support if an update appears necessary or an installed version is unexpected.

MyOwnProxy management of supported Node security patches does not extend to every Node operating-system or vendor update. Confirm work outside the supported maintenance scope with MyOwnProxy Support.

Current customer controls and visibility

Software updates, supported Node security patches, and Node reboots are not customer self-service actions. Neither ADMIN nor VIEWER can initiate them in the current portal.

Both roles can review:

  • The reported software version in Gateway details and Node details, when available.
  • Normal Gateway and Node lifecycle state, health information, and recent operational reporting.

The customer resource pages do not show dedicated software-update, security-patch, or reboot progress and history. Audit may show the maintenance request, but it is not a live progress or completion tracker. Use normal resource health and the reported version to verify the outcome, or contact MyOwnProxy Support for maintenance status.

General maintenance workflow

  1. Contact MyOwnProxy Support if you believe MyOwnProxy application software or supported Node maintenance requires attention.
  2. Identify applications that depend on the affected Gateway or Node.
  3. When Support requests a maintenance window or customer action, prepare the affected applications to reconnect and confirm the window.
  4. MyOwnProxy performs the supported software or Node maintenance operation.
  5. Verify that the affected resource returns to an operational state and reports the expected software version when applicable.
  6. Establish new proxy connections and verify production behavior before ending the maintenance window.

Coordination is conditional: MyOwnProxy Support coordinates with you when customer action or a maintenance window is needed. Do not assume every maintenance operation requires customer action.
