Welcome to MyOwnProxy

MyOwnProxy helps you operate proxy infrastructure on systems you control.

You deploy your own Gateways and Nodes, organize Nodes into Pools, and connect to your proxies using standard SOCKS5 authentication. MyOwnProxy provides the control plane used to configure, monitor, and operate the environment.

How MyOwnProxy is different

The proxy data plane runs entirely through infrastructure controlled by you:

  1. Your application connects to a MyOwnProxy Gateway.
  2. The Gateway routes the connection through an eligible Node from the selected Pool.
  3. The Node provides the Internet exit connection.

MyOwnProxy's control plane manages configuration, orchestration, and operational health, but proxy traffic does not pass through the MyOwnProxy control plane.

The control plane does not receive proxy request or response content, normal connection destinations, source application addresses, or per-connection byte counts. The customer-controlled Gateway can retain local connection diagnostics; see Data Plane Privacy.

What you can do

With MyOwnProxy you can:

  • Deploy and manage Gateways and Nodes.
  • Group Nodes into Pools and manage which Nodes can serve a Proxy.
  • Connect through a Pool or, when needed, through a specific Node.
  • Create, rotate, and revoke Proxy Credentials, including time-limited credentials.
  • Monitor Gateway and Node health through Observability.
  • Understand how Nodes are evaluated for Pool selection through Candidate Diagnostics.
  • Access your Nodes remotely using temporary SSH access.
  • Coordinate MyOwnProxy software updates, Node security patches, and Node reboots with MyOwnProxy.

The normal operating model

MyOwnProxy is designed around Pools.

A Pool contains the Nodes that are available to serve traffic for a Proxy. When you connect through a Pool, MyOwnProxy selects an eligible Node according to the current selection criteria.

You can also connect directly through a specific Node when your use case requires a particular exit Node.

Both connection methods use SOCKS5 and Proxy Credentials.

Customer-controlled infrastructure

Gateways and Nodes run in infrastructure controlled by you.

MyOwnProxy manages the MyOwnProxy software lifecycle and the control-plane configuration required to operate the platform. You remain responsible for the underlying infrastructure, connectivity, and the operating-system lifecycle of your Gateways.
